ODOR REMOVAL

There are many reasons a vehicle can develop an odor. All vehicles build up odors from regular use over time. Other factors, such as tobacco smoke, pets, vomit, urine, food, etc., can add to the problem, sometimes acutely. These and other smells can make traveling in the vehicle a less than pleasant experience and can adversely affect the resale value of the vehicle. Regular methods of cleaning and deodorizing a vehicle are not always enough. Upholstery cleaners available off-the-shelf often do not remove the cause of the smell, and leave a residue that can attract more dirt and odor in the long term. Pet and cigarette odors are particularly difficult to remove because smelly chemical compounds can penetrate deep into the upholstery and padding.

At Details, Etc., we take a two-step approach to removing odors by first thoroughly cleaning the car's interior, and removing any residual particles or liquids that may be the cause of the odor. We then neutralize the odor with an ozone treatment for the entire interior of the car. Ozone removes odor by destroying the molecules, bacteria, and spores that cause unpleasant smells. Ozone (O3) is a highly reactive molecule and is very quick to chemically react with particles in the air and on surfaces. The extra oxygen atom in the ozone attaches itself to other molecules, chemically changing their structure to create non-offensive molecules – eliminating the smell.

We recommend that our odor removal service be used in combination with our interior detail service or a complete detail for a complete fresh and clean interior.
